The best Airbnbs in Brazil

considering a trip to the country of caipirinhas ? Consider a lodging where you will have a kitchen in which to concoct your own. Airbnb has exploded in popularity in Brazil in preparation for the World Cup of football in 2014 and then again ahead of the Olympic Games in 2016, a shift that continues to benefit travellers – especially those headed to big cities.

Airbnb has its advantages everywhere in the world, but to the Brazil in particular I found, it was quite a few advantages over traditional hotels.

Airbnb in Brazil

for one, laundry – I was warned before my trip by several bloggers that laundry service was hard to find in the Brazil and the boy, they were right. Unlike youth hostels in Europe and Southeast Asia, not a unique hostel and even several hotels that I have stayed at the Brazil offered no laundry facilities of any kind. Some offered to point me in the direction of a local laundromat, but my days have been very busy and reversing a lots to do a wash and dry just didn’t fit in the itinerary. In order to have access to a washing machine occasionally along the path of our trip was essential. (A storage Scrubba Kit would have been a good backup in between).

in addition, a large part of the Brazil can be quite difficult to travel for people with special dietary needs – vegans will certainly sometimes find themselves frustrated in this meat and cheese land supported. Solution? Having a kitchen at your fingertips! Even without special circumstances beyond a mild case of picky, eating I enjoyed having a few breaks to eat outside on such a long journey.

Finally, I personally found Brazil to be overwhelming at times to communicate. If you do not speak Portuguese, an Airbnb can be a nice place to retreat, reload and get ready for your next turn to talk about tango. For our six week trip to Brazil, Heather and I rented Airbnbs in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro and scoured registrations for all the destinations we have visited in the country. Here are some of my favorites!

Airbnb in Brazil

São Paulo

was in São Paulo, high hand, the best selection of Airbnbs I’ve seen… anywhere! I was stunned by the amount of super trendy, affordable apartments in some of the most desirable areas of the city, like the hip Vila Madalena and charming Vila Mariana. I guess that I would not have been so surprised; whereas the São Paulo is the capital of art and design in the country, it makes sense its residents would have some pretty well made houses. Based on the amazing and diverse ads, Favorited, I feel like all traveler in São Paulo I’d be crazy not to go on Airbnb ads.

Heather and I ended up renting colored one bedroom in Vila Madalena to recover from the Tomorrowland Brazil festival in. We initially rented an apartment style at a lower rate, but when the host was cancelled at the last minute, Airbnb thankfully provided us enough credit to upgrade to this list. Between the pool, the gym and the comfortable sofa, we did not want to leave! The hosts were generous and kind, and we left rested and refreshed after two short nights. From $96 per night.

Rio de Janeiro

overall, Airbnb in Rio selection was a little dated, compared with registrations slicks of São Paulo, and in the beach areas of the South, the majority were at Copacabana as opposed to Ipanema hipper.

that said, I’ve been beyond obsessed with the charming and chic loft, we ended up booking for three nights at the edge of the beach. Again our host was helpful and communicative, and we relished the opportunity to play the House for a few days between spreading by hotel. Rates start at $85 per night.

Paraty

Paraty probably don’t you wow with its comprehensive selection of Airbnbs. This trip home is an amazing exception. From $96 per night.

Ilha Grande

like Paraty, Ilha Grande is not a huge selection of Airbnbs. Most are rooms pousadas or guesthouses rather than self-contained apartments. An incredibly unique exception? A lovely houseboat dilapidated floating in the Bay of Vila de Abraão. Heather and I he nixed due to the lack of electricity and wifi, but for travelers runs not online businesses, it might be a perfect fit! Starting at $ 82 per night.

Brasília

in a huge sea of drab hotels companies, Airbnb emerged as an interesting option in Brasilia. While most of the apartments will appear on design blogs anytime soon, I found a great deal with style in spades. I didn’t end up making it to Brasilia on this trip, but when I come back, that I would love to hit up in this studio modern and cute for only $36 per night.
