at this time, you are probably tired of hear me say – yes, there’s more to see on little Koh Tao than diving and partying!
in fact, there’s a whole company that specializes in proves it. Technically Yes, my good friends of Goodtime Adventures are offer scuba diving; but they offer also a wide range of activities for the lubbers land among us: climbing, rappelling and reminder, trapezing (one of my favorite of the Islands activities!), jumping and Cliff diving in apnea, to name a few. They also offer tours of popular super combo that pack a major punch by installing several activities in a full afternoon of adrenaline.
, I long wanted to try one of their land-based adventures, as well for my own pleasure and for my ongoing efforts highlight the activities of Koh topside. Then when my dear friend and (at the time) used Goodtime adventures Päivi asked me to join for an afternoon of their popular jump into tour Jaws, I was thrilled to jump on board!
the day started with one of my rambling favorite – well, at least half. The Goodtime Adventures Office, we headed to the beach of Laem Tien. It is usually a two hour hike, – and-out of a beach on the coast East of the island.
but the best part about this tour? A speedboat meets you on the other side! I have to admit, knowing that I wasn’t going to hit the track again to return it makes walking much more enjoyable together . The second best part about this tour? Have the sidekick of Päivi Saya lead the way!
arriving at Laem Tien, we were in for a treat. Guides of good time paved the way that we jumped from rock to rock over a corner down the Bay that I’d never been to, despite having traveled several times on my own.
and then it was time to jump!
guides led us through a series of three, nine and twelve meters jumps; adrenaline increases with each jump. Personally, I’ve nailed the first two jumps but decided that the third was just a hair out of my comfort zone.
Fortunately, there was no pressure from any direction to push you more than you want to go – everyone was cheerful and cheering the brave few who made the final leap!
when we were all jumping-ed out, we crawled aboard the speed boat which had valiantly seemed to take us to the next chapter of our afternoon. The part of the “mouth” of the title ‘Jumping into the mouth’ tour made reference to the purpose of the dive with black tip reef sharks which is particularly famous for them. That said, all activities are dependent on weather conditions and the day I took the tour, conditions just were not just go in that direction.
, but do not be afraid! We simply changed course and the captain chooses two new bright spots for us – Hin Wong Bay, one of my favorite creeks throughout Koh Tao, f0llowed by popular Mango Bay. Saya approved both.
the time was perhaps not the most supportive of this day, but the blue waters below more than offset the lack of blue sky. On the way back to the shop, we grilled the day with a complementary beer.
