If you read all my posts that gushes on Koh Tao, you found yourself dreaming of your days of beach lined with Palm trees own , you have looked up flights, and now you’re Island-bound. But where to lay your head at night? This is one of the most frequent questions that lands in my Inbox!
the vast majority of my time in Koh Tao is spent in apartments in the long term, this means that, for a long time, I didn’t have much advice to distribute. But that is changing. Last year, I reviewed Aminjirah Resort to Sairee North. Today, I give you a big ‘ ol virtual tour of Thalassa, a modern boutique hotel, mid range in the heart of the Village of Sairee.
I stayed at the Thalassa this year for five nights when I was apartment hunting after the first landing back on the island. Clean rooms, minimalist but elegant with amenities such as hot showers, air conditioning and a minibar fridge is the perfect place to land. Rooms are also decorated two bottles of water per day, although as a palm-tree-hugger I implore you to find more environmentally friendly options.
my biggest concern want to Thalassa was the noise, because it is literally on the main artery of the main village of the island. Surprisingly, whatever the used hotel of soundproofing has worked and we slept deeply even in the nights most frequented bars below.
the 20 rooms of the hotel are spread over three floors and divises divided in two simple categories, double standard and King and twin superior, King. Like most – all? -Hotels in Koh Tao, there’s no elevator, so ask for a room on a lower floor if you have mobility problems or otherwise fully stay if the stairs are not an option because it will take at least one of them to reach the first set of rooms.
above Kings are larger than their standard counterparts and have a futon that can be converted into a bed for a third person. Prices vary according to season and availability but connect several dates on Agoda revealed the average range is 1 280-1, 640 ($36 – 46US) for a standard room 1 850 – 2, 350 b ($52 – 66US) for a superior.
the grounds and equipment
Thalassa is smack in the middle of one of the busiest streets of Sairee, and the entire first floor of the hotel is dedicated to the restaurant on-site and a small reception desk. Public space only is so non-arranged on the roof.
However, the biggest advantage of your stay at Thalassa? You are smack on top of one of my favourite absolute on Koh Tao, Kusto restaurants! If you come to Koh Tao without eating at this amazing tapas and wine bar, you are simply bad life. I’m a regular there regardless of where I am staying. Bonus? All hotel guests get a glass of good wine at check in.
breakfast is also served at the bottom and included in the price of the room, served à la carte and consists of three choices : french, English or in good health.
