, I had heard the rumors: there was a deep jungle trail that connected the north end of the main road of the island and around the back of my point of view of Koh Tao favorite. If you look at a map, there is nothing between the two outside hills and jungle. I couldn’t find anyone who had in fact fact it, only those who knew someone who had wanted.
, it took two different hikes – shipments would be a more appropriate term, really! -in before to find the right road to connect the two areas. It is without a doubt the most beautiful hike that I found on Koh Tao in regards to the canopy and foliage, however, it is also the more uncertain and difficult to find and follow. I’m really surprised, it took two attempts.
I can’t describe what a sense of accomplishment, we felt when we realized that we had done it! If you decide to try the same thing, please proceed with extreme caution and heed all warnings contained in this message.
Start Location: tas Dusit Resort, at the end of the Road North Sairee. In fact, this hike is named after it! , you will be able to find the resort on Google Maps or maps of Koh Tao various around the island. If you’re walking here, no problem; If you’re driving, I strongly recommend leaving a bike nearest the end of hiking and biking in common until the beginning ( is not a trail to only hike). Otherwise it will not be a lengthy chore around the city at the end of a long track.
so Park you at Dusit Buncha, but don’t enter the station. Instead, bring back a few steps from the direction that you just drove. You will find a road leading from the ocean in the jungle with a “ATV not entrance” sign. This is the beginning of the trail.
the trail will quickly become a curve but incredibly steep uphill road. You will pass some water tanks and buildings associated with the station, but those soon give way to nothing but jungle and the broken evidence accidents motorcycle pilot crazy enough to take the pure climb by bike. It is the steepest road, that I found on the island.
after about 30 minutes (it feels longer!) the trail will level a little and turn to dirt, and will you become a fork in the trail, not long after passing a rock painted with an eye. I thought that this could mean a point of view and never diverted to find one; I do not know if there were once and it increased by report or painting means something else, but suffice it to say there is no point of view coming anytime soon after that paint!
at the first junction, turn right. The first time I tried this hike, we turned to the left and after about half an hour whacking through the jungle, we have reached a serious impasse and turned around to the beginning. If you have time and want to explore, this is an interesting way, but it will eventually become impassable without a machete. The second time I tried this hike, we headed right at the fork. The jungle has become dense and huge, as we walked through a game of Jurassic Park! But we were on the right track.
after about five minutes, we reached a second branch. This, we have taken a left only on intuition. Now that you’re in the deep, deep jungle – deep, I found on the island.
after fifteen minutes, you are going to open in the range of compensation and struck a third. Go left again. (We originally made a wrong turn to the right, it is going nowhere.) We were surprised to see a little motorbikes and Burmese workers burning trees, but we knew we were on the right track, because they had not come definitely not where we had!
after about ten minutes, you will pass an abandoned house on the left (above). Continue. In ten minutes, will you become a path, although you will have to go under a door with a “no trespassing” sign in thai to get there (he must face in the opposite direction, and we were greeted with a laugh disoriented by the family who has the point of view of mango when we passed through to the rear.) Congratulations! Turn right and you are on the point of view of right with mango. Here, we stopped for a fresh coconut and discuss with the owner on the route we took to get there. He congratulated us and told us that we have good times. He also warned that the road changes from one year to the other as the rain reshape the jungle, once again, I can not overemphasize attention enough.
mango Viewpoint to juice alive is about forty-five minutes. Factor and more time if you must return at the beginning of the hike at Dusit Buncha (where my recommendation to park a bike in the most close at the end of the runway.)
the first time that I tried this hike (and isn’t!) it took me one hour and forty-five minutes. The second time I tried the hike (and fact!) it took two hours and fifteen minutes, not counting one minute thirty stops at Mango for relax and enjoy of a coconut fresh toast to our victory and twenty minutes lost on the bad pass that I subtracted from the final amount.
total estimate it will take at least three hours of your day between parking, hiking, getting lost and having a drink well deserved from the point of view of mango.
difficulty of 5 on 5. It is one of the longest hikes that you can do on Koh Tao and path is not very clear. The first section is incredibly stiff. It requires a good sense of humor and a taste for adventure to undertake.
there is a 100B admission to the point of view of mango, you’ll have to pay if you decide to enter (and you’ll want after all this way to come!)

once more, I feel the need to stress that it is a path of unmarked roads, and not to be taken lightly! you will lose probably cellular service during the major part of the track, but number of Koh Tao (+ 66 0879790191) Rescue program in your phone without worrying. do not walk alone, and tell someone where you are going and when you plan to return. Bring an excessive amount of water.
