as many of you joined me in a battle out of breath but Burning Man ticket lottery this Wednesday? Here in the timezone of Thailand, he intends to remain in place until the wee hours of the morning and in my case, ended in a slight disappointment. Disappointment because Burning Man participant (twice!) was one of the grandest experiences I’ve ever had, and I am greedy to have again. Sweet because, well – I am very happy for the 60 000 has buy tickets to experience for themselves. While many tickets will continue to change hands by the end of August, I took the fact that I didn’t land a ticket as a sign to take a sabbatical year, reflect on why I am going and what I want, reassess how I interact and contribute and save money and energy for the following year. I kinda feel like Burning Man and I are in this life now, and we have this kind of relationship where we can go awhile and choose back up right where we left.
is this festival deep in the heart of the desert of Nevada on your bucket list? I hope that, after this post, it will be! I attended Burning Man for the first time in 2013, and then again in 2015. Burning Man is intense, you all. In some respects, it took me almost six full months to treat my burning to the point where I’m ready to write about it publicly. Well, I’m almost there. First of all, I thought I would kick things off with a photo essay of my favorite photos fifteen of Burning Man 2015 (and Yes, one of them is totally a selfie).
it is my second burn, I felt a little less pressure to document obsessive. There were nights I left my camera back at the camp and the days I logged quite briefly. Yet, Black Rock City is one of the most creatively stimulating environments that I have never immersed myself in, and I revel in my time spent there behind the lens.
now, I shared snapshots. Then, the stories. Do you have a burning question about Burning Man? Something you are interested to learn more on? A subject that intrigues you? Let me know in the, and I will try to resolve it in an upcoming post.
